St. Clair Superior Development Corporation has partnered with the Organization of Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland (OCAGC) & artist Melissa Daubert, to implement an educational art program for Cleveland’s inner city children. With the program in its second year, we are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity for our youth.
This program benefits children at Case Elementary School, Asian Services in Action afterschool program, and Goodrich Gannett Neighborhood Center. Each class consists of art projects based specifically on the Chinese culture, as well as guest speakers from the OCAGC organization educating the students about certain aspects of the Chinese culture. These classes are fully funded by Year of the Ox Premium Sponsors.
Year of the Ox Public Art Project Art & Culture Program 2009:
This year's program consisted of two very different projects. This program was offered to the youth at Goodrich Gannett Neighborhood Center & Case Elementary School. We worked with local artist Melissa Daubert to plan the projects and teach the classes, while incorporating cultural lessons from OCAGC's president, Johnny Wu.
