Business Revitalization District
The Business Revitalization District (BRD) was established in August 2004 on St. Clair Avenue between East 55th and East 82nd Streets. A BRD is a tool to ensure appropriate design of buildings, signage and property in business areas targeted for concentrated improvements through a required design review process.
There are three key impact areas affected by implementing a BRD including:
- To preserve jobs, tax revenues and local services through the upgrading of business districts;
- To safeguard the public investment in revitalization through prevention of inappropriate signage and property design in business areas targeted for concentrated public improvements and rehabilitation financing; and
- To protect residential and commercial property values, particularly for businesses and residents committing private funds to rehabilitation in designated revitalization areas.
The BRD is an opportunity to create visible change that is apparent to stakeholders and visitors. The overall upgrading of the BRD will improve the image of the overall neighborhood.
Commercial Action Group This group meets every third Wednesday of the month at 8:30am (call 881-0644 for location) to join forces to make great things happen within the neighborhood commercial districts. Currently, the group is working with local artist, Hector Vega, to make sure that everyone knows that St. Clair Superior is ready to P.O.P.!
