Rickey Lewis is an oil painter on canvas. He creates original works of art as well as prints, in addition to these works he have also been commissioned to design and produce murals for residential and public clients.
Rickey is a premier African-American local visual artist who specializes in portraiture, two dimensional design (logos, designs, not the physical application), and paintings in oil. He embodies these wide ranging art focuses into one umbrella business, POPADELIC, INC. He began his career as an artist at the age of 18. While attending The University of Akron, in Akron, Ohio where he studied Fine Arts and Graphic Design. Rickey Lewis recently graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a digital design diploma.
Since 1990, Rickey Lewis has been commissioned by numerous businesses, individuals and community-based organizations in and around the Cleveland area to create fine art, signs, posters, billboards, and murals.  Found on his web site are examples of some mural work for a prominent local custom house builder, it is a Disney theme for two bedrooms, and their play room for his daughters. Another example of the body of work would be a billboard design for a campaign by a local non profit organization. Yet another direction for artistic expression would be the many paintings in oil commissioned by private customers.

In March of 2001, Popadelic, Inc. was incorporated, in anticipation of building a business that would be a major “player” in answering the increased call for an artistic presence in the local communities of Northeast Ohio, expand the genre of urban pop art. Urban pop art refers to the inspired experience of his art. Rickey Lewis is a product of an urban lifestyle and gravitates toward popular culture; my art reflects the combination of the two.

Using this as a starting point, Rickey creates a series of works based on that theme, and create artistic venues that enhance the community, as well as establish a profitable enterprise by which to foster works of art. Past and current trends of fine art including public art projects have demonstrated this form of visual artwork to be a viable business market.
